Lano
Lano’s winery is located 5 km from Alba, in the picturesque area of Barbaresco on the hills between San Rocco Seno d’Elvio and Treiso and belongs to the Barbaresco Denomination.
The nearly 6 hectares have been organically managed since the year 2000, and certified in 2014, all historically dedicated to the typical native Langhe grape varieties. The Lano family is now in its third generation of winemakers: the first vineyards were planted in the 1950s, with the typical bulk production or delivery of grapes, as was customary at the time.
The winery’s historic character is preserved even today, thanks to the presence of several old vineyards, some over 60 years old.
With Gianluigi, in the 1990s, the Lano family began bottling their first wines, and in 2000 they decided to eliminate all systemic practices based on invasive technology and return to artisanal methods in the vineyard and cellar, also experimenting with soil and land practices that today would be defined as ‘Regenerative Agriculture’.
With Samuele, son of Gianluigi and Daniela, they have now achieved a mature and conscious practice of minimizing intervention and manipulation, while always respecting the balance, drinkability, and elegance of the wines.
The estate is now able to face the most unpredictable vintages with a constant focus on the enjoyment of the wines.
