Review
Compared to the Barolo Le Coste di Monforte, this wine shows more grip and linearity that serves to underline its streamlined personality. Even the color of this wine is slightly lighter. Showing its vineyard name for the first time, the Amalia Cascina in Langa 2018 Barolo Bussia Vigna Fantini comes from younger vines (planted in 2007) on sandstone-based soils, or Arenarie di Diano, formed by ancient submarine landslides. These sandy soils are common in Monforte d'Alba. These conditions shape the very tight, slender and ethereal character of this wine.

Review
The Amalia Cascina in Langa 2019 Barolo Bussia Vigna Fantini has nice balance and soft fruit. It also shows an open-knit quality that I often associate with wines made in the greater Bussia area of Monforte d'Alba. That accessibility is colored by sweet cherry, raspberry, crushed limestone and rose. I am in the habit of pointing out high alcohol that can compromise balance, especially with a grape as nuanced as Nebbiolo. The wine sports a 15% alcohol content but hides it reasonably well. Production is limited to 3,000 bottles.

Review
Another good example of Bussia from the higher part of the MGA, Vigneto Fantini is a 0.6ha holding of Cascina Amalia, on Diano sandstone soil. The extraction avoids submerged-cap in favour of pumping over, then the wine is aged in barriques for 12 months and large 26hL oak vessels for another 20 months. Very garnet in the glass, the initially rustic nose develops complex earthy notes, while the full body shows great fruit concentration enhanced by the roundness given by barriques, sustained by crisp acidity. A wine to follow.

Review
A delightful purity of fragrant raspberry and rose hip with soft spicy undertones; juicy and lively with a mouthwatering concentration, a bracing acidity and a backbone of firm, assertive tannins. Sumptuous, sublime and very long.
