Review
The 2010 Bolgheri Superiore Impronte (70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Cabernet Franc) shows elaborate tones of spice, tobacco and dark fruit. This is a very austere and tight expression that needs more time to open. The fruit tones increase gradually as the wine warms in the glass but this wine needs to take its own sweet time. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2020.
Giorgio Meletti Cavallari-s estate is located 350 meters above sea level and is surrounded by wild oak forests and Mediterranean shrubs. His family also runs a beautiful rural bed & breakfast immersed in the vineyards with panoramic views of the Tyrrhenian Sea.

The 2011 Bolgheri Superiore Impronte (70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Cabernet Franc) is a very pretty expression with dark fruit, spice and lingering mineral tones. Brimstone and pencil shavings come to attention and there’s a spot of menthol freshness on the finish. The wine shows a nice sense of harmony and balance. You can age it five years or more.

The 2012 Bolgheri Superiore Impronte is a dark and savory red blend with aromas of cured meat, spice and dried fruit. The tannins are a bit astringent and will need two or three years to soften. Impronte is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with Cabernet Franc. Drying mineral tones that add focus and sharpness to the wine's pretty bouquet.

Review
The 2013 Bolgheri Superiore Impronte is a thick and inky wine with dark fruit tones, spice, dried blackberry and grilled herb. It shows a distinctively savory side with cured meat and spicy tobacco. The fruit element is slightly dried with blackberry preserves and prune, and the mouthfeel is dry and borderline astringent. This wine does not traffic in the sweet and chewy fruit tones that are so common to other red wines from Coastal Tuscany. Instead, this 70/30 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc shows muscle and brawn. Some 10,000 bottles are produced.

Review
The 2015 Bolgheri Superiore Impronte is the product of an abandoned property purchased in 1999 and converted to vineyards. A 70/30 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, this wine is very dark in color, and the rocky soils of schist and limestone produce some flinty, ferrous notes. Crunchy and closed, the Superiore Impronte is a rich, tight wine. Give this wine a few extra years of bottle age to flesh out further.

Review
The 2017 Bolgheri Superiore Impronte is Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc from one of the hardest working producers on the Tuscan Coast. I saw the work achieved to clear a parcel of mountain land that had hardened sheets of black schist and slate to plant vineyards in one of the most remote and inaccessible parts of the appellation. This is a gorgeous wine with a mineral signature on the bouquet that materializes with flint and crushed brimstone. Those dark aromas are followed by lifted and bright aromas of red cherry, wild raspberry and cassis. This wine seems protected from some of the overt ripeness of this very hot vintage. The tannins are tight, but this wine offers nice balance overall, good value and promising aging potential.

Review
Made with 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Cabernet Franc, the Giorgio Meletti Cavallari 2019 Bolgheri Superiore Impronte gets its fruit from a steep and inaccessible vineyard parcel (measuring 1.5 hectares) at a breezy 350 meters in elevation with black schistous soils. I've been there and can assure you: It is out of this world. Thick forests stand at the rear and open views onto the glimmering Tyrrhenian Sea open to the front. This is indeed a very special wine with etched black fruit, pencil shaving and crusted stone. The tannins are dusty and dry. With only 5,000 bottles made, Impronte is fermented in cement vats, and the wine is later racked over to barrique for 18 months.

Review
A blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Cabernet Franc, the Giorgio Meletti Cavallari 2020 Bolgheri Superiore Impronte (with 5,000 bottles released) ages in barrique for 18 months with 50% new oak. You sense the hot vintage with varietal tones that side on ripeness, mixed trail berry and black cherry rather than the greener notes that come with these grapes. This edition focuses on texture and plushness with vanilla cream and oak spice. The crushed stone note or pencil shaving that usually plays such as big role in this wine is downplayed in 2020 compared to prior years. I find less overall definition in this vintage.
