Review
Showing a very fine and lean appearance, the Albino Rocca 2018 Barbaresco Montersino is delicate and nuanced even at this very young stage in its life. There are layers of small berry, cassis, grilled earth, blue flower and crushed stone that complete this very classic portrait of a grape. Only 2,000 bottles were released.

Review
The 2018 Barbaresco Montersino stands out for its inner perfume and aromatic presence. This mid-weight, lithe Barbaresco is super classy. Dried rose petal, orange peel, mint and wild flowers open with a bit of coaxing. This is an intensely floral, ethereal style, but there is plenty of Nebbiolo grip. The 2018 is all class.

Review
The 2019 Barbaresco Montersino marries elegance with power. Sweet wild cherry, tobacco, cedar, mint, spice and dried flowers open first, followed by a kick of Nebbiolo acids and tannin that make themselves felt on the mid-palate and finish. Complex and beguiling, the Montersino has a lot to say in 2019. There's real depth here, not to mention tons of character.

Underbrush, dark cherry and hazelnut aromas form the nose along with a pretty whiff of blue flower. Firmly structured, the savory palate offers ripe Morello cherry, ground clove and licorice framed in tightly knit, fine-grained tannins. Give it a few more years to fully unwind. Drink 2027–2034.

Review
The 2015 Barbaresco Montersino is silky, gracious and enveloping, all while retaining a very classic mid-weight sense of structure. Rose petal, mint, game, sweet red cherry, chalk and white pepper add an attractive aromatic register. All the elements are very nicely balanced in this mid- weight Barbaresco.

Aromas and flavors of medicinal herbs, juniper, sage, cherry, mineral and licorice mark this savory red. Firm and a bit austere now, with a core of ripe fruit and dusty tannins shaping the finish. Best from 2022 through 2038.

Review
The 2016 Barbaresco Montersino is marked by distinct floral overtones, bright red berry fruit and gracious, mid-weight structure. Clean mineral notes add energy to a Barbaresco that stands out for its tense, crystalline personality. Pine, mint, chalk and crushed rocks give the 2016 its distinctive aromatic upper register to balance things out. This is such a vivid and expressive wine.

Camphor, underbrush, clove and rose petal aromas lead the nose. The linear, focused palate offers sour cherry, star anise and cracked herbs alongside racy acidity and ground clove before a saline and orange zest finish. Young and austere, it needs time but shows great potential. Drink 2026–2036.

Rose, underbrush, tilled earth and leather aromas mingle with balsamic whiffs of eucalyptus. The savory full-bodied palate is also earthy, offering ripe black cherry, raspberry, tobacco and a hint of game set against rather lively acidity and fine-grained tannins. Drink after 2023.

Review
A pure violet perfume shines from the glass allied to dark wild fruits and watermelon. Full of sucrosity on the palate, this Montersino is vibrant and savoury, with elegant tannins and lifted, integrated acidity. There is a lot of limestone here at 400m where this vineyard is based and which imprints a remarkable finesse.

Review
The 2020 Barbaresco Montersino is intensely floral and savory, reflecting a slightly higher position on the slope in a cool site. Dried herbs, tobacco, cedar, spice and earthy tones lend character. There is plenty of complexity and nuance here, and certainly more than enough depth to balance the tannins. This is a fine vintage for the Montersino.
