Bright red. Perfumed herbs complement strawberry and violet on the enticing nose. Then light and lively, but with precise flavors of strawberry and red cherries complicated by flint, lavender and herbs. The 2016 Bozner Leiten finishes long with a hint of mineral dust and repeating notes of flowers. This overtly fruity wine features sneaky concentration. Very well done. The Bozner Leiten denomination is German for Colli di Bolzano, or “hills of Bolzano”. These wines are made with a minimum 85% Schiava varieties. Putzenhof’s version is roughly 85% Schiavas and 15% Pinot Nero and Lagrein.

Good bright red. Sappy, primary, ripe aromas of red cherry liqueur, smoke and herbs plus an element of higher-acid red currants. Concentrated and pliant, with sweet red berry and red cherry flavors accented by a herbal note on the long back end. Lovely.

Mushrooms, cherry stones and strawberries with a touch of white pepper on the nose. It’s medium-bodied, savory and mellow, with fine tannins and a tasty, lightly spicy finish. Drink now.
