Very floral with crushed berries and hints of lemon leaf in the nose. Medium-bodied with very fine tannins that are polished and together. Delicate finish. Drink now or hold.

Moccagatta's 2019 Barbaresco is racy and expressive, which makes it a good choice for near-term drinking, once the tannins soften a bit. Cinnamon, blood orange and spice add aromatic presence to this bright, supple Barbaresco from vines in Muncagota, Basarin and Cott. Floral notes leave a closing accent on the taut finish.

Review
The 2019 Barbaresco stands apart, thanks to the pleasantly bold and intact quality of its bouquet that is laced with sweet cherry fruit, candied orange, blue flower, rusty ore and iodine. This unique expression offers an equal measure of sweetness, which is contrasted against savory tones, with impressive precision and balance. I highly recommend this classic Barbaresco from the talented team at Moccagatta. Some 8,000 bottles were released at a reasonable price.

Review
The 2018 Barbaresco is a soft, fruity wine to drink now and over the next few years. Crushed flowers, sweet red fruit, hard candy and spice give this pretty, nuanced Barbaresco lovely inner perfume to match its mid-weight personality. In 2018, the Barbaresco includes fruit from Basarin, which was not bottled as the vineyard was recovering from hail damage suffered in 2017. Drink it over the next decade or so.

Review
The 2013 Barbaresco is an absolutely delicious entry-level wine. Sweet red cherry, kirsch, wild flowers and spices are all pushed forward in a beautifully perfumed, sweet Barbaresco that overdelivers big time. Readers will have a hard time keeping their hands off this super-expressive, engaging Barbaresco from Moccagatta and the Minuto family.

A fruity, juicy version, sporting cherry, raspberry and currant flavors, accented by licorice and tobacco hints. Featuring gentle dusty tannins, this lingers with tar notes. Best from 2017 through 2027.

Aromas of dark fruits and nutmeg follow through to a full body, chewy tannins and a spicy finish. Like the linear line to this wine. Better in 2018.

Review
Aged in oak for 12 months, the 2013 Barbaresco does a great job of presenting a sweet, fruity side that is carefully balanced against a frame of savory oak smoke and spice. This classic vintage offers contemporary notes of cinnamon and mocha with fresh and zesty berry notes at its core. That juxtaposition is very attractive indeed.

Review
The 2014 Barbaresco is a delicious entry-level offering from Moccagatta. Black cherry, plum, lavender and cloves are some of the signatures in this dark, almost brooding Barbaresco. There is no shortage of intensity. If anything, the 2014 possesses quite a bit of power for its level. The tannins could use another few years to soften. Even so, the 2014 is impressive today.

Bold ripe fruit peels off the bouquet of the 2014 Barbaresco. The wine opens to a darkly saturated garnet appearance. It offers ripe aromas of black cherry and black currant. You also get some candied cherry or cough syrup. Those robust tones are followed by ethereal layers of balsam herb and dried rose. The wine is ripe with a touch of characteristic Nebbiolo sourness.

A broad, spicy style, displaying plum, earth and tar flavors, shaded by toast and vanilla notes. The firm structure shores up the finish as this winds down, echoing plum, tar and spice details. Best from 2021 through 2033.

The 2015 Barbaresco is an attractive entry-level offering. Red cherry fruit and expressive floral notes give the wine brightness, while veins of supporting tannin add shape and drive. The bold fruit and up-front style captures plenty of the richness of the 2015 vintage. Today, the tannins are a bit coarse, but time in bottle should help.

The Moccagatta 2016 Barbaresco shows terrific balance and a very generous disposition that makes a great first impression. This is a steady and balanced wine, with a silky approach and long flavors of wild berry, spice, tobacco and licorice. Try this Barbaresco with typical Piedmontese carne cruda, or raw meat. Some 10,000 bottles were made.

Review
Moccagatta's 2016 Barbaresco is a dark, inviting wine. Black cherry, plum, lavender and sweet spice give the wine much of its immediacy. Shorter aging relative to the single-vineyard offerings means the straight Barbaresco will be ready to drink with minimal cellaring, and yet readers will also find a wine that has plenty of the energy and overall expressiveness that are such signatures of the vintage.

Spicy and inviting, featuring a beam of pure cherry, leather, licorice and tar flavors, shaded by vanilla and toasty oak. Firm, courtesy of the wood, with a touch of dryness on the finish. Bright acidity keeps this vibrant and long. Be patient. Best from 2022 through 2035.

Review
The 2017 Barbaresco is an attractive entry-level wine from Moccagatta. The 2017 doesn’t quite have the body of some recent editions, but it is open aromatically and very nicely balanced, with mid-weight structure and plenty of near to medium-term appeal. Sweet spice, floral and vanillin notes linger nicely on the close. I would prefer to drink the 2017 sooner rather than later, before the fruit fades. The decision to age the straight Barbaresco in neutral oak works well given the modest structure of the year.

Review
The Moccagatta 2017 Barbaresco is a blend of fruit from Muncagota and Ronchi (in Barbaresco) and Cottà (in Neive). This classic expression is beautifully accessible and immediate with a sweet and smooth quality that permeates the entire wine. That sweetness reflects the warmth and heat of the vintage, and the wine is more structured and tannic that you might initially suspect. Some of that firmness comes from 12 months of barrique aging. It packs a swift little kick at the end that gives this wine the power to pair with beef or pork. Some 8,000 bottles were made.

The 2021 Barbaresco is a tasty entry-level offering from Moccagatta. Sweet floral, cedar and spice notes weave through a core of racy dark red fruit. Another year or so in bottle should help the elements come together more fully. Vineyard sources are Basarin, Cotta and Bric Balin.
