Review
The Garesio 2015 Barolo Cerretta opens to aromas of dried cherry, camphor ash, candied orange skin and wet terracotta. The Cerretta offers a strong mineral identity with some iron ore or iodine showing up at the back. The tannins are integrated but dry, and the mouthfeel is thin, long and dusty. Like the other Barolo from Garesio with fruit from Serralunga d'Alba (also reviewed here), this wine could use some more primary fruit, especially now in its youth. Dried herbs and aniseed pop up on the finish.

A supple yet firmly structured red, this exhibits strawberry, cherry, currant, menthol and iron flavors. Taut and dense with tannins, yet remains lithe and long. Best from 2024 through 2040.

Review
Quite dense in colour and ripe to the fore with raspberry, gooseberry, elderberry and rhubarb, there is great concentration and refinement here. Chewy tannins are extracted and dusty but with large, sweet grain on the finish. High acidity refreshes and completes the framework of this Cerretta, which is austere enough for the long haul.

Review
A depth of tar, chocolate, orange peel vibrancy and earthy minerality introduce a classic Riserva, dark and traditional. The tannins are velvety, joined by a crisp vein of acidity on the warming palate. More powerful than elegant, it is a classic old-style extracted yet ripe Barolo with great tension, a dusty character and not without sternness on the finish, featuring a savoury liquorice aftertaste.

Review
This estate favours ageing its Barolo in Austrian barrels. It has a gentle and lightly smoky raspberry nose, leading into a supple and juicy palate with a forward style that doesn't seem that structured. There's freshness in addition to moderate weight of fruit and concentration, with a long, spicy finish.

Aromas of violet, nutmeg and tobacco slowly take shape on this. The solid palate delivers sour cherry, clove and black pepper alongside taut but refined tannins and fresh acidity. Drink 2021–2028.

Review
The Garesio 2015 Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d'Alba is a spicy and robust interpretation of Nebbiolo that delivers a very developed savory side. There is dark primary fruit at the core of the wine, but more attention is drawn to aromas of spice, tobacco and campfire embers. The heat of the vintage may have played a small role in drying out some of the wine's fruity freshness. You also get the power and concentration that are characteristics of this comune within the Barolo appellation. I would suggest a near or medium-term drinking window.

A dense, tightly wound style, this delivers a mix of savory and fruit flavors, with eucalyptus, juniper, cherry and strawberry framed by iron and tobacco. Persistent and tips toward the tannins now, yet this should come around in time. Best from 2024 through 2042.

Review
This property was established in 2010 and includes vineyards in other regions of Piedmont. This Serralunga blend is aged in medium-sized oak of French and Austrian origin. The nose is ripe, with cranberry-jelly and cherry aromas. The attack is fresh and svelte, but the wine is very concentrated and even reserved. The mid-palate displays force and intensity, and the finish is well balanced, spicy and long.

Review
This blend of different plots from Serralunga shines for its balance. Not so pale in terms of colour, it has a classic nose of smoky woodland, pomegranate and rosehip, with a touch of leather and balsamic depth. The attack is firm, with lifted acidity and dusty ripe tannins building weight on the mid-palate. A bit more elegance would make this more accessible now, but the fruit concentration means it has cellar potential. Aged in mostly Slavonian oak, with some French barriques too.

Review
Garesio's vineyards are now being converted to organic farming. This Barolo is sourced from vines close to the cellars and is aged in large casks. The fruit is still subdued, with mulch and tobacco on the nose. The palate is rich and broad, fleshy and succulent, with good concentration of fruit and firm tannins. There's plenty of rugged grip here and little finesse, but it has vigour and substance. Long.

Very tight, this has shut down, with the structure dominating any fruit or savory flavors for now. The nose and palate, however, hint at the depth and ripe fruit that lurks beneath. Fine balance. Best from 2024 through 2045. 400 cases made, 35 cases imported.

Review
This organic winery ferments and macerates this wine for approximately 40 days, of which 20 are submerged-cap. Ageing occurs in big Austrian oak casks for 24 months. Light red berry and violet notes are accompanied by earthy clay and even some peaty tones. The hugely tannic, biting palate is refreshed by cleansing acidity, followed by a fruity finish. Quite muscular, it lacks a bit of complexity but is well made.

An open-knit nose not without elegance, focused on lemon leaf and blood orange, wild strawberry and a whiff of cinnamon. The body is lighter than expected, smoky flavoured with lifted acidity and moderate, refined tannins. Chewy and tense, it has an expressive finish of liquorice and cherry kernel with an almost peaty note. A typical good example of the 2018 vintage from this great MGA in Serralunga.

This Barolo packs a punch for its sweet violet and intense blood orange aromas and tense palate with firm acidic attack, tight, velvety, fruit-soaked tannins and refreshing finish. It comes across as over-extracted now, not without roughness at the end, but is pretty classic considering the vintage. It will partially soften with age.

The Garesio 2015 Nizza Riserva doles out extra richness and concentration. The wine pours to an inky dark appearance with ripe aromas of plummy fruit, dried cherry and blackberry preserves. Those dark fruit tones are backed by oak spice, tar and tobacco. Those spicy notes play a big role in the wine's DNA, although they remain carefully balanced and folded into this Riserva's rich texture. This is a great choice for barbecued spare ribs with spicy sauce.

Review
Some of the complexity and depth that is missing from the 2018 Nizza seems to have been forwarded to the Garesio 2017 Nizza Riserva. The fruit is very ripe, even a bit baked, with sweet cherry confit and blackberry preserves. But the wine builds nicely in volume and intensity to the palate and with the right food pairing, say a breaded veal steak, balances out the extra sweetness.
