Vivid straw-green. Lemon and spearmint complement apple and pear aromas on the enticing nose. Fruity and fresh; sweet-and-sour flavors of lime and grapefruit are complicated by white flowers, gin and lemon verbena. Finishes with strong mineral and chalk notes and a hint of residual sugar.

Dark yellow. Deep, dense, rich aromas and flavors of ripe apple, pear and citrus fruits. At once fresh and glyceral, showcasing above-average complexity and precision for a Fiano wine in the difficult 2017 vintage. Almost Alsatian in its round, rich, off-dry style. Gabriella Ferrara excels with both of Campania’s most famous white grape varieties, which makes her a rarity in the region.

This is such a refreshing take on the fiano grape with the classic, bright loquat and guava peel, spiced up with something akin to the smokiness you get in Loire sauvignon blanc. The combination of round, dense phenolics and singing acidity and spice character is electric. It will set your palate ablaze! Drink now.

Review
Deep straw-green with golden tinges. Bright aromas of Northern Spy apples, menthol and minerals, complemented by hints of lemon verbena. Enters big, rich and ripe, then offers lovely lemony freshness in the middle, with building, glyceral sweetness on the long, honeyed, orchard-fruit-accented back end. Finishes with good spicy cut and outstanding peppery complexity. Much fresher than the 2017 but still in a rather ripe style of Fiano (if not quite to the same degree as its predecessor). Those who like their whites a little more full-bodied and honeyed will love this.

The 2019 Fiano di Avellino Sequenzha seduces with its honeyed yellow flowers giving way to tropical notes of kiwi and young mango. It communicates pure elegance with silky textures that usher in ripe apple, pear and almond paste under an air of exotic florals. It’s lightly structured with a flourish of candied lime and minerals that linger incredibly long. As good as the 2019 Sequenzha is today, this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Smoky crushed stone mixes with dried yellow flowers, incense and a freshly sliced pear as the 2020 Fiano di Avellino Sequenzha comes to life in the glass. This is pleasantly sweet and opulent in feel, yet nicely balanced by mineral-tinged orchard fruits with enriching hints of almond. It’s persistent, lightly structured and salty through the finale, which creates a wonderful contrast to the heady experience found within.

Dusty florals and spice complicate a complex blend of musky dries peaches and apricot. The 2021 Fiano di Avellino Sequenzha is silky-smooth and supple, with a pure mix of apple and pear elevated by saline-tinged acidity. The balance here is beautiful, finishing with admirable length and raw almond and green melon notes. The Sequenzha is deeply satisfying now but has the balance to excel through medium-term cellaring.

This wine is a beauty, and it's one of the stars among this year's white wine new releases from Campania. The 2017 Greco di Tufo Vigna Cicogna hits all possible nails on all possible heads. This hot and dry vintage has shaped a lively quality of fruit that is bright and opulent with plenty of primary purity. Stone fruit, honey, yellow rose and crushed stone make for a seamless succession of aromas. This is a lean to mid-weight wine that impresses in terms of length and finish. Make no mistake, the wine is not made to be complex or sophisticated, but it achieves a happy state of simplicity nonetheless. The vines are up to 60 years old and planted in clay limestone soils mixed with veins of volcanic sulfur.
