Sella's 2011 Bramaterra is gorgeous. Dark, supple and inviting, the 2011 is an excellent choice for drinking now and over the next few years. Soft contours and mid-weight structure add to the wine's considerable appeal. The 2011 is not the last word in complexity, but it is supremely delicious.

The 2013 Bramaterra is elegant, translucent and super-expressive. Deceptive in its mid-weight structure, the 2013 offers up sweet dried cherry, cedar, tobacco, crushed flowers and cinnamon. This is an especially restrained, translucent wine built on clean, fine lines.

The 2014 Bramaterra shows the power and intense mineral character that is typical of the appellation. Crushed rocks, white pepper, chalk, dried red berry fruit, cinnamon and orange peel all lend quite a bit of complexity. This is a decidedly taut, nervy wine but, more in a savory and mineral intensity than anything else.

The 2015 Bramaterra is beguiling, complex and full of character. Sweet dried cherry, tobacco, cedar, wild flowers, star anise and mint are very nicely lifted in this attractive, weightless Bramaterra from Sella. This is an especially savory style, with the fruit pushed into the background.

The 2019 Rosato Majoli wafts up from the glass with a perfumed display of Nebbiolo fruit, showing fresh strawberry and cherry, with sweet herbs, evolving more toward ripe green melon with hints of citrus. On the palate, it washes across the senses with ripe orchard fruits, creamy in texture, yet also spicy, propelled by vibrant acidity. The finish is medium in length, resonating on pretty inner florals, a twang of yellow citrus, and salty minerals. This is simply a pleasure to taste.

The 2020 Majoli is so pretty and perfumed, showing dusty dried flowers and hints of sweet spice, then young strawberries and crushed stone. It’s soothing and soft, with a pleasant inner sweetness offset by vibrant acidity, giving way to citrus-tinged red berries and hints of melon that linger long. There’s so much pleasure to be had from this varietal Nebbiolo Rosato, which comes across fruit-forward yet wonderfully balanced and juicy in nature.
