Review
Bright ruby. Cardamom, marjoram and bay leaf complicate fresh red cherry and blueberry aromas on the enticing nose. Enters smooth, with silky tannins providing support to the luscious red and blue fruit flavors. A strong peppery note rises on the long herbal finish. Very juicy and fresh despite its size, this is made from a very rare Italian native grape called Casetta (also known as Lambrusco a Foglia Frastagliata). It’s a single vineyard wine that takes its name from the Majere vineyard.

Review
Opaque straw yellow. Perfumed aromas of apple, pear and minerals are complicated by hints of tangerine and orange oil. Then bright, dense and juicy, with penetrating fresh citrus and pomaceous orchard fruit flavors that are layered and long. An outstanding Chardonnay, a real rarity from Italy.

Review
Bright golden-tinged yellow. Smoky spiced grilled pork, rose petals and peony. Rich and dense with an oily texture and less lift to the tropical fruit flavors than the nose had suggested. Finishes long and tactile.

Review
The 2019 Gewürztraminer mixes the exoticism of tropical fruits and florals with an earthy minerality that keeps you with your nose to the glass. Silky in texture but also buzzing with energy, this impresses more for its savory and nutty tones more than on ripeness of fruits. That’s said, there’s still plenty of young mango, apricot and notes of dried peaches and pear to impress any love of the variety, along with a subtle buzz of cleansing acidity toward the close.

Bright straw color. Intense aromas of yellow plum, apple and pear. Then similar flavors to the aromas but with a strong spicy note and a herbal nuance on the long savory, thick finish. This is remarkably good Pinot Grigio.

Pinot Nero Vallagarina Vignalet |

Review
The 2017 Pinot Nero Vignalet shows more of a dark fruit and ripe personality, with sweet exotic spices giving way to black cherry with earthy minerals, hints of mint and sage. It’s juicy yet textural, balancing ripeness with sour citrus and brisk acids, creating an expression of contrasts that I’m finding highly enjoyable. Hints of tobacco, savory herbs and fine tannins linger through the close, promising a number of years of positive evolution. The Vignalet handled the warmth of the vintage beautifully, and although there is a bit of perceivable oak here (12 months in barrique), it’s wonderfully integrated.

Deep red-ruby. Spicy, peppery aromas and flavors of bright red and dark berries complemented by herbs and flowers. Finishes long, crisp and juicy, with plenty of upfront fruit and zingy acidity. A lovely entry-level wine.

Review
The 2019 San Valentino Rosso is a very pretty, varietal Marzemino, showing notes of sour cherry, wild mountain herbs, and purple flowers. It’s silken textures give way to juicy, nervous acidity which contrasts its fleshy ripe red/blue fruits, as inner violet tones amass toward the finale. There’s a slight bitter twang that punctuates the expression, like a coating of liquid florals.
