Barolo del Comune di Monforte d’Alba

The Barolo del Comune di Monforte d'Alba (Barolo from the Municipality of Monforte) is probably the best expression of Nebbiolo that describes Maurizio Sanso's composure and sense of reserve.  It spends 32 months in large Slavonian oak barrels, plus 6 months in the bottle. The glass describes a paradigm of austerity for these fruity and balsamic whispers, but it's the palate that stands out with an imposing tannic structure.
