This is soft and round, with lovely ripe fruit that resembles fresh strawberry jam. Full and round, with good acidity for the vintage. Hard not to drink it all. So good now to drink. Delicious.

Fabulous aromas of flowers, incense, Indian spices and dark fruits. Full-bodied, with polished, chewy tannins and a long, flavorful finish. Layered and concentrated, with a dense midpalate of fruit. Elegant and full of finesse. A small producer on a roll. Best after 2013. 1,250 cases made, 665 cases imported.

The 2005 Brunello di Montalcino is easily the best wine I have ever tasted from Villa I Cipressi. An attractive, floral bouquet leads to well-articulated suggestions of red cherries and flowers. This shows lovely transparency and weightlessness but backed up with surprising punch on the mid-palate and finish. The tannins remain a touch firm but beautifully balanced.

Starts off subtle and delicate, and finishes with a wonderful depth of fruit and ultra silky tannins. This really builds beautifully in the glass. I wouldn’t drink it for two or three years, but it’s very beautiful now.

There's fine integration between oak spice, raspberry, cherry and tobacco flavors in this racy Brunello, which has tension and precision, with a lingering spicy aftertaste. Shows excellent potential for aging. Best from 2013 through 2026. 1,330 cases made, 250 cases imported.

The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino is a gorgeous wine. Sweet dark fruit, menthol, licorice and worn-in leather are some of the nuances that emerge from this perfumed, supple Brunello. The wine’s soft harmonious personality and refined finish make it delicious even at this early stage, although readers who seek more tertiary complexity will want to cellar it for a few years. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024.

The 2007 Brunello di Montalcino is gorgeous. Freshly cut flowers, juicy red berries and a hint of oak are woven together nicely in this delineated, nuanced wine. The 2007 is an especially understated wine for the vintage but there is plenty of detail that comes through in the glass. My impression is that the 2007 will drink well with minimum cellaring. The 2007 was made from a combination of parcels in Montalcino’s south and west sides. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024.

Review
The 2008 Brunello di Montalcino from Villa I Cipressi is attractive. As is often the case, this is a somewhat eccentric wine, but at the same time, all the elements fall into place nicely. Freshly cut flowers, sweet red cherries, spices and mint are some of the notes that take shape in the glass. There is an attractive brightness to the fruit, along with a slight suggestion of volatile acidity that may bother some tasters, although in this vintage it actually seems to help in keeping the wine vibrant. The 2008 Brunello from I Cipressi is a wine for classically leaning palates and those who can forgive a little rusticity.

Hubert Ciacci’s 2009 Brunello di Montalcino is bright and berry-driven initially, but moves quickly toward autumnal aromas of forest floor, porcino mushroom and wet earth as it takes its first breaths of oxygen. The wine sports a pretty shade of dark garnet and glides over the palate with mild consistency and a buoyant sense of acidity that harkens back to that first impression of fruity freshness delivered on your first sniff. The wine should hold in the medium term, or until a decade from now. Drink: 2015-2024.

Villa I Cipressi's 2010 Brunello di Montalcino is a pretty, straightforward wine with plenty of Sangiovese typicity. Underbrush, tobacco, worn-in leather, licorice, game and crushed flowers add nuance as the 2010 opens up in the glass. The 2010 isn't an obvious wine, but it slowly works its charms, showing understated refinement and terrific overall balance in a pleasantly rustic style. The firm tannins need bottle age to soften, so readers need to be patient here.

Review
The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino is surprisingly fruity and bright for the year. Sweet floral notes, red plum, spice and cherry are pushed forward in this decidedly succulent, fruit-driven Brunello. The 2011 is not especially representative of the vintage, as it tastes a bit freshened up. In this case, that may be a good thing. Drink it over the next decade or so. These are two attractive Brunellos from Villa I Cipressi. Proprietor Dario Ciacci opted to not make his top selection, the Brunello Zebras, in 2011. Instead, all the best fruit went into the straight Brunello.

Villa i Cipressi does a very nice job with its 2012 Brunello di Montalcino. This is a fine and smooth effort with moderate concentration and balanced acidity. You are reminded of the warm growing season thanks to the wine's aromas that include black cherry, plum, cumin and grilled herb. This Brunello is aged in oak for two years, thus establishing a relatively youthful and fruit-forward personality.

Deep ruby. Blueberry, dark plum, flowers, orange zest and white pepper on the scented nose, plus a strong note of fresh grape juice. Not in a fleshy style but juicy and nicely delineated; the orange note provides inner- mouth perfume. Becomes increasingly tight with aeration, finishing clean but with noteworthy tannic bite and subtle length. I don’t think the tannins will stick out as much when you eat something alongside this lovely Brunello.

This wine will appeal to those who enjoy a little extra heft and power in their Brunello. With a bouquet that starts off with dark fruit and blackberry preserves, swerving gently to heavier notes of spice, tar and tobacco, the 2015 Brunello di Montalcino offers a layered and concentrated approach. This is a good near- or medium-term drinking option with a meat and potato casserole. Some 10,000 bottles were produced.

The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino is dusty and understated upon opening, and it requires quite a bit of swirling to truly open up. Black cherries, lavender and hints of brown spice can be found in the glass. It impresses more with purity of fruit than texture or verve, showing notes of strawberry that slowly morph into cranberry, with fine tannins that slowly saturate. Tart red berries and licorice linger through the heavily structured finale. It will be interesting to watch this mature over the next three to five years, but it’s hard to say where it will be at that time.

The 2017 Brunello di Montalcino blossoms in the glass with a pretty display of sweet spice, dusty dried flowers and strawberries. Its silky textures glide across the palate with ease, ushering in ripe red fruits and minerals, as framing tannins collect toward the close. This leaves a staining of raspberry and licorice that lingers on through the lightly structured finale. It’s a lovely expression of the 2017 vintage.

Dusty violet florals, cloves, chalk dust and medicinal blackberries form an intense display as the 2019 Brunello di Montalcino opens in the glass. This sweeps across the palate with lifted textures and floral-laced wild berry fruits, while hints of licorice and orange come forward toward the close. This tapers o! staining and long with a slightly bitter note and gently grippy tannins that resonate.
