Review
This wine shows dark saturation and thick ripeness that weights down the bouquet. The 2015 Barolo Le Coste di Monforte is a darkly saturated wine with raw and slightly tangy aromas of black cherry, spice and bitter almond. The wine is immediate and accessible, and it drinks nicely straight out of the gate.

Review
The Amalia Cascina in Langa 2016 Barolo Le Coste di Monforte offers a very floral bouquet with some greener aromas like you get with fresh shoots on springtime garden growth. It's all very pleasant and uplifting. The wine presents a very fresh and youthful set of aromas with white flowers, forest berry and a touch of sweet peach or nectarine. Dig a little deeper and you will find subtle hints of white licorice, spice and crushed stone. The wine needs time to take shape, as this initial showing is very focused on primary aromas both floral and fruity. The wine's overall personality is light and compact, and it will flesh out in time. However, those cool-vintage Nebbiolo tannins kick in at the end and remind you that this is a Barolo built to last, no matter how soft and delicate its bouquet may appear at this stage. The vines for this wine were planted in 1982. If you consider the altitude of the vineyard (located at 400 meters above sea level) and the soils (consisting of Sant'Agata blue-gray marls that are characteristic of this area), those fragrant floral notes make perfect sense. Only 3,500 bottles were made, and this wine was released in May 2020.

Review
Balanced and bright, the Amalia Cascina in Langa 2017 Barolo Le Coste di Monforte reveals a pretty bouquet with simple lines and tight contouring. The approach is streamlined, but this Barolo from Monforte d'Alba shows more focus and sharpness than you get from a great many of its peers. Tart cassis and wild strawberry yield to licorice, campfire ash and crushed stone. Here's a wine that manages to stave off most of those irksome 2017 hot-vintage demons.

Review
Showing a dark ruby color and garnet background hues, the Amalia Cascina in Langa 2018 Barolo Le Coste di Monforte is streamlined and tight with dark fruit aromas, wild rose and rusty nail. The vineyards were planted in 1982 facing southeast with classic Sant'Agata marl soils. The altitude is a breezy 400 meters above sea level, and that is a real sweet spot for Nebbiolo. Indeed, freshness and focus characterize the mouthfeel. Production is 3,000 bottles.

Review
The Amalia Cascina in Langa 2019 Barolo Le Coste di Monforte (with 3,000 bottles released) has a soft delivery that starts off with ripe cherry and redcurrant, but then veers toward spice, crushed stone and blue flower. The floral notes emerge with more intensity in time. I also get a hint of rosemary essence or eucalyptus oil. The vines were planted in 1982 on sandy soils at a cool 400 meters above sea level.

Broad, earthy and spicy with blue fruit aromas – enchanting. A little alcoholic warmth, but this camouflages its 15% much better than many other wines this vintage. Very pure and long.

Review
Founded in 2003, Amalia have produced a lovely Barolo made from two small vineyard sites; one hectare in Le Coste and two hectares in Bussia. Initial flavours of plum and raspberry develop on the palate, gaining slightly meaty and herbal notes. This is an elegant style that can be drunk from an early stage in its lifespan.

Review
This estate's top vineyards are in Monforte. Its succulent Bussia in this vintage is surpassed by the Coste di Monforte, which is produced from 1ha at 400 metres. The raspberry-scented nose is sweet and intense and shows finesse. It's the balance that impresses here: rich and full-bodied, weighty but not too extracted, with polished tannins and great concentration. The finish is spicy, intense, complex and long.

Review
Le Coste is a prestigious MGA and this wine, aged in barriques as well as in big 26hL oak vessels, is carefully handled, well integrated and elegant. Ruby in the glass, it is focused on fresh notes of red berries and rose, followed by plenty of balsamic character. Almost zesty acidity and ripe, chewy tannins are supported by fleshy fruit and graphite minerality in depth, with a great finish.

Review
From 1ha of vines in Le Coste di Monforte, close to the border with Serralunga, this wine spends 32 months in 26hl French oak casks. It's very balsamic, with some pure, sweet red fruit and violet scents. Sticky, mouthcoating tannins obscure peppery red fruits, mingling with woody, mushroomy and earthy nuances. There's plenty of freshness on offer, and give this more time and the fruit is sure to emerge from its tannic veil.
