Dark berry with some cranberry and dark chocolate. Subtle aromas. Medium-bodied with firm tannins that are polished and fine. Lightly chewy at the end. Shows sophistication. Drink after 2024.

Review
The 2019 Barbaresco Basarin offers up an exotic mélange of cherries in liqueur, spice, menthol and new leather. This is an especially exuberant vintage for the Basarin. It's a style that works quite well here. Soft contours ensure the 2019 will drink well pretty much right out of the gate. In 2019, the Basarin seems to have an added kick of ripeness that gives it an unmistakable flair.

Review
The 2019 Barbaresco Basarin shows tight, filigreed aromas of wild cherry, plum, violet and licorice. There is also a very distinct mineral note that resembles crushed stone or talc powder. It gives the wine sharp contours and brightness. The wine is dry with silky tannins, but there is a hint of sweet currant or forest berry that adds a pretty moment of softness to the palate.

Expressive, this red exudes black cherry, leather, tar and a touch of wild herb aromas and flavors. This has ample flesh to offset the firm structure, and the finish is framed by subtle vanilla and toasty oak. Excellent length. Best from 2026 through 2043. 400 cases made, 140 cases imported.

Review
The 2013 Barbaresco Basarin is a gorgeous, super-classic Basarin from Moccagatta. Floral, lifted and beautifully perfuned, the Basarin shows the more gracious, feminine side of the Nebbiolo and Barbaresco. Sweet floral and red stone fruit flavors are among the signature. The tannins could still use more time to soften, but all th e elements are very nicely balanced.

A lush, juicy style of Barbaresco, this fills the rich texture with cherry, strawberry, licorice and leather flavors. Supple yet firm, with terrific balance, ending with a long aftertaste of sweet fruit, mineral and tobacco. Best from 2018 through 2029.

Review
The 2015 Barbaresco Basarin is lifted, sensual and open-knit, all qualities that will allow it to drink well with minimal cellaring. Succulent dark cherry, kirsch, leather, mint, lavender and spice add nuance in pretty, fleshy, mid-weight Barbaresco. At times, the Basarin is a touch alcoholic. Otherwise, it is very nicely done. This decidedly exotic Barbaresco from Moccagatta is certainly not lacking in personality.

Review
The 2015 Barbaresco Basarin (from the village of Neive) is a dark, dense and compact expression of Nebbiolo. The heat of the vintage comes through loud and clear with blackberry confit and jammy plum. The wine shows a loose-knit texture with dense tannins on the close. Only 5,000 bottles were produced. Because of that bold ripeness, this Barbaresco is better suited to near and medium-term drinking.

Ripe and rich aromas of strawberries, cherries and cherries follow through to a full body with lots of concentration and richness, as well as new wood. Flavorful. A bigger style. Start drinking in 2020.

This is perfumed, its cherry, plum, leather and tobacco flavors framed by sweet, toasty oak notes. There is plenty of acidity and tannins, yet this is well-integrated. Should come together nicely with a bit of cellaring. Best from 2022 through 2038.

This pumped-up rendering of Barbaresco opens with creme caramel and treacle tart, which flank the rich morello-cherry and tar character. As expected, it’s incredibly dense with tons of dark fruit packed in and a surfeit of tannins. Drink from 2027.

Review
The 2016 Barbaresco Basarin (with 6,000 bottles made) shows some evident oak definition with very ripe fruit, dark cherry and exotic spice. The Basarin is aged in oak for 18 months. This wine offers thick textural fiber and lots of succulent richness. It brings a lot of volume and depth, although the quality of the Nebbiolo here just may be a touch too ripe, and I have reduced the drinking window as a result. Some 6,000 bottles were made.

Review
Dark cherry, lavender, menthol, raspberry jam, pomegranate, wild flowers and spice all race through the 2016 Barbaresco Basarin. As is often the case, the Basarin has a slightly exotic quality that is quite appealing. Time in the glass brings out a more red-toned, floral array of aromas and flavors. Despite its considerable showiness, the 2016 is best cellared for at least a few years.

Black cherry, spice, leather, cedar and menthol infuse the 2016 Barbaresco Basarin with striking aromatic complexity. Powerful and resonant, with terrific depth, the 2016 has so much to offer. Today, a hint of reduction lingers, but otherwise, the Basarin is very pretty and expressive. The 2016 finishes with real cut and an array of floral notes that add perfume and brightness.

Toasty oak wraps around the plum and cherry fruit in this lush red. Accents of menthol, tar and tobacco chime in as this builds to a long finish. Balanced and fresh, but needs time to integrate the oak. Best from 2023 through 2042.

Review
The 2021 Barbaresco Basarin is a classic Moccagatta wine. Ripe plum, mocha, espresso, sweet spice and a kiss of French oak make a strong opening statement. This forward, racy Barbaresco offers tons of immediacy. All it needs is a bit of time to fully come together. Even if it works well for the juicy style, the oak imprint is strong however.

Cedar, Amalfi lemons, potpourri and cranberries on the nose. Firmly structured with chewy tannins and citrusy acidity, while remaining medium-bodied. Tight and fresh. Try from 2027.
