Review
The 2020 Barbaresco Bric Balin is powerful and deep, as all these wines are, but also offers a measure of balance. Red cherry, red plum, espresso,
menthol, licorice and mocha lend nuance to this decidedly potent, explosive Barbaresco. Bright floral top notes on the finish help soften the
impact of the formidable tannins.

Black cherries, strawberries and fresh flowers with stems on the nose. Medium to full body, firm tannins and a slightly chewy finish. Vanilla is coming through from the wood now, but it should come together with bottle age. Try after 2024.

The 2019 Barbaresco Bric Balin is going to be superb, once it softens. All the energy of this cool year comes through in a mid-weight, focused Barbaresco endowed with real drive. Readers need to be patient with the 2019, but it's a gorgeous wine in the making.

Review
The 2019 Barbaresco Bric Balin is distinguished by lots of wild berry fruit and a spicy hint of crushed white pepper that gives lift and immediacy to the bouquet. The tannins are quite firm in this wine and require more time to soften with bottle age. However, Bric Balin delivers overall elegance and length. This is a beautiful wine that is built for the long haul.

Review
The 2013 Barbaresco Bric Balin will delight Moccagatta's fans. Ample and generous on the palate, yet with a classic sense of translucency, the 2013 captures all of the personality and pedigree of the year. Full-bodied and intense, but also light on its feet for such a big wine, the 2013 is utterly captivating from the very first taste. A host of red cherry jam, spice, menthol, espresso, violet and lavender accompany the fiish. This is yet another impressive wine from the Minuto family.

Warm tones of spice and toast greet the nose, while cherry, plum, licorice and vanilla notes ply the palate. Vibrant and balanced, with a long, green olive- and spice-filled aftertaste. All the elements are in the right proportions, but patience is
required. Best from 2022 through 2036.

Review
Interestingly, the 2014 Barbaresco Bric Balin is a bit lighter in body and overall structure than the Basarin, which is unusual. Red cherry, plum, mint, sweet tobacco and incense give the wine its distinctive aromatic flavor profile. The tannins are quite present, but they are also nicely woven into the wine's fabric. Today, the 2014 is not as flattering or showy as it has been in the past. Nevertheless, it is super-impressive.

Review
Bric Balin is a vineyard farmed by Moccagatta, but the name is trademarked to this estate and not part of the official appellation geographic mapping. The 2015 Barbaresco Bric Balin is characterized by thin and compact fruit at its core. It shows berry nuances of dried cherry and red currant backed by oak spice and toast. Despite the heat of the vintage, this interpretation offers extra balance and elegance.

The 2015 Barbaresco Bric Balin has more than enough structure and breadth to handle richness of the year. Expansive and reasonant on the palate, the 2015 has a lot to recommend it. Blood orange, mint, red-toned fruit and floral notes find a striking counterpoint in the wine's vibrancy and underlying structure.

Offers an intense display of cherry, kirsch, rose, sandalwood and spice aromas and flavors. The kaleidoscope of flavors is matched to a firm, racy structure. It all comes together on the never-ending, mineral-tinged aftertaste. Best from 2023 through 2043.

This is a private vineyard site registered to Moccagatta. The 2016 Barbaresco Bric Balin shows ripe fruit intensity with dark layers of cherry, dark blackberry and spice. This wine is more dry and subdued in terms of aromas with less of the baby fat and spice that you get in the other wines. The effect is dry and streamlined. This is a great bottle to open soon with pumpkin risotto. Production for this wine is the largest, with 14,000 bottles made.

A very ripe and self-assertive Barbaresco with peanuts, coffee beans, notes of tar and ash, as well as dried fruit. Hints of menthol. Very chewy and decadent on the palate with brassy tannins and an opulent finish. Blockbuster style, but holds together. The tannins linger on the roof of your mouth. Drink from 2024.

Well-marked by vanilla, coconut and toasty oak aromas and flavors, this red offers ripe cherry and plum notes and a spine of vibrant acidity. This should really sing once it integrates more fully. Review
The 2016 Barbaresco Bric Balin, Moccagatta's flagship, is fabulous. Rich and sumptuous in the glass, with tremendous allure, the 2016 has so much to offer. A rush of dark cherry, espresso, licorice, spice and leather builds as this creamy, luscious Barbaresco shows off its immediacy and appeal. There is plenty of tannin, but it is nearly buried by the wine's luxurious fruit. What a gorgeous wine this is. The 2016 is once again simply compelling. Another year in bottle has only been a help.

Review
The 2017 Barbaresco Bric Balin is the product of a very challenging growing season marked by hail, frost and a hot, dry summer, conditions that left the wine with drying tannins that are still evident. Even so, the 2017 has developed nicely. New oak accents that were strong last year have softened, while the wine retains good freshness. Dark cherry, plum, mocha and spice linger. All things considered, this is a solid effort, but readers have to be willing to look past the gritty tannins. I would open the 2017 well in advance.

Bric Balin is a 2.4-hectare site within the Muncagota cru with gray marl and calcareous soils at an ideal 260 to 300 meters above sea level. The Moccagatta 2017 Barbaresco Bric Balin brings extra intensity and concentration with dark fruit, spice, tilled earth and campfire ash. The wine sees a standard 18 months in barrique, and this too results in the added power you perceive. The tannins (both from the oak and the fruit in this hot vintage) are a touch astringent. Some 13,000 bottles were made.

The 2018 Barbaresco Bric Balin is laced with the essence of sweet red berry, mint, cinnamon and rose petal. Gracious and lifted, with striking inner perfume, the 2018 is all class. It is especially beautiful with a few hours of air. I would prefer to drink this supple, juicy Barbaresco over the next decade, give or take. The 2018 is a very pretty wine for a vintage with significant hail damage. Then again, production of the Bric Balin is just 5,000 bottles, one-third of normal.

Bric Balin is a proprietor name for a 2.4-hectare site within the Muncagota cru. The Moccagatta 2018 Barbaresco Bric Balin is a beautifully dense and rich expression, with deep layers of dark fruit and plenty of steady intensity. it is powered by a 15% alcohol content that is not overly noticeable. The wine is structured and tight with an especially developed texture and structure that adds to the wine's overall length and staying power. The Bric Balin shows an elegant, firm and well-etched side of the vintage and offers us a fine wine from Moccagatta. Some 4,800 bottles were released.

The 2021 Barbaresco Bric Balin is the most reticent of the 2021 I tasted at Moccagatta for this report. Even so, it offers quite a bit of depth and fine balance, especially with regards to the integration of oak. White pepper, cedar, flowers and mint add an attractive upper register.
