Sandalwood, vanilla, strawberry, cherry and tar flavors converge in this supple, stylish red. The tannins are present on the finish, yet feel more polished than in many of its 2016 peers. Fine length. Best from 2022 through 2038. 250 cases made, 100 cases imported.

Review
A limited release of 2,000 bottles, the 2017 Barolo Bricco Manzoni draws its fruit from La Morra. Keeping in line with the characteristics of this village, you are indeed treated to softly floral notes of crushed violets and lavender followed by dried fruit, tar and spice. This wine shows a little bit of evolution, while dark fruit ripeness or hot-vintage oxidation gives it a heavier character and a more accessible personality. There is a touch of sweet cherry skin on the close.

Nicely balanced aromas and flavors of fresh red berries, together with light, integrated tannins and a fresh finish with some length. Drink or hold.

Review
This offers maraschino and cocoa-powder notes with vanilla and dark chocolate-coated cherries on the nose. Really captivating. The palate has an effortlessly fleshy and quite silky feel with a very concentrated core of sweet, ripe red cherries on offer. Luscious finish. Tempting now, but wait for 2022.

Plum, cherry, licorice, leather and spice flavors mark this vibrant, firmly structured red. Vanilla and toast notes from the oak treatment add interest. Energetic and long. Best from 2023 through 2040.

Review
The 2011 Barolo Bricco Manzoni offers more sweet fruit up front than the other offerings from Silvio Grasso. It is both sweet and tart, and it should stay the course as it continues its bottle aging.

Review
The 2016 Barolo Bricco Manzoni is a pretty, nuanced wine. Blood orange, mint, pine, rosewater and macerated red cherry are all finely sketched. The 2016 offers good nuance in a more refined style with less overt oak influence than in the past, and with much more detail, yet it retains the energy that is such a signature of this site.

Review
The 2017 Barolo Bricco Manzoni handled the rigors of the year relatively well. Dark and ample in the glass, the 2017 has the frame to deal with the intensity of the vintage. Black cherry, lavender, sage, cloves and tobacco infuse the 2017 with quite a bit of character. I would cellar the 2017 for a year or two, maybe more, and see what happens.

Lovely sweet berries and roses with hints of lemon zest on the nose. Medium-bodied with beautifully integrated tannins and a salted caramel undertone to the wine. It’s complex and focused. Layered texture. Best after 2027.
