Review
Give this lots of air to get the loamy, black-fruit aromas with hints of lightly toasted vanilla oak. On the palate it’s full-bodied with very fine, firm tannins and a highly concentrated bead of lovely crushed black fruit and oak that lasts a long time. This will gain even more complexity as it opens up with time. Super Barolo, but be patient. Decant to drink now, but best after 2023.

Ripe and nutty red fruit on the nose, following through to a medium-bodied palate with some lightly firm tannin and a green-walnut finish. Drink or hold.

Very attractive vanilla and cedar in a modern stance here, leading to a rich array of ripe red cherries and berries, as well as crushed roses. The palate has a very succulent edge with a fresh, ripe and juicy core of red cherries and a wealth of rich, sweeping tannins that hold the finish long. Try from 2023.

The sweet, vanilla oak aroma fits beautifully with the camphor not in this spice red. Leather and iron notes add detail. It's smooth, with a solid base of tannins and stays harmonious overall. Give this a year or two to integrate more fully. Best from 2023 through 2042.

Review
The 2015 Barolo Annunziata Vigna Plicotti is pliant, silky and super-expressive. Succulent dark red cherry, spice, leather, cedar and tobacco all infuse this creamy, supple Barolo from Grasso. Silky tannins and soft curves add to the wine’s undeniable appeal. What a pretty wine this is.

Review
The 2016 Barolo Annunziata Vigna Plicotti is another powerful, dense wine in this range. Raspberry jam, chocolate, new leather, licorice and spice are generous in this fruity, voluptuous Barolo. A wine of terrific depth and density in a lush, forward style, the 2016 is not exactly complex, but it delivers plenty of impact in a heady, exotic style that will be most enjoyed by readers who like potent wines.

Review
Alluring for its harmony and complex flavors of smoky cherry, raspberry, flowers, anise and iron. This red's texture starts out silky, picking up structure by the way of firm, chalky tannins by the finish. Long, with ripe fruit as a lasting impression. Best from 2026 through 2043. 300 cases made, 100 cases imported.
