Review
The 2017 Barolo is a broad and thickly concentrated expression that definitely wears the marks of a hot growing season. The fruit is weighed by thick concentration, dark cherry and plum, all followed by plenty of earthy tones or crushed aspirin. You even get a hint of black truffle that is perfumed and sensual. The tannins on this wine are almost accessible now, and this wine can be enjoyed in the near term as well. I found this blended Barolo to be the most balanced of these three new releases from Silvio Grasso. Some 20,000 bottles were made.

Good, nutty red-fruit aromas follow through to a medium-bodied palate with integrated tannins and a medium finish. Some complexity, but delicate this year. Drink or hold.

Review
A fragrant red, offering cherry, nutmeg and white pepper aromas, this is austere, its shy fruit hiding behind the vibrant structure. It's slim and not too densely tannic, so should develop over the short-term. Best from 2022 through 2037. 900 cases made, 500 cases imported.

This is already approachable with lovely ripe-strawberry, chocolate and walnut character. It’s full and layered with chewy, polished tannins and a flavorful finish. Better after 2022.

Attractive, fragrant roses, wild raspberries and red cherries here, with immediately appealing freshness. Leafy nuances. The palate arrives with good clarity of succulent red-cherry and raspberry flavors and fine yet tannins. Nice balance. Drink or hold.

An elegant style, this red offers currant and cherry fruit at the core, enhanced by licorice, tar and eucalyptus elements. Bright and long, with a saline aftertaste. Best from 2022 through 2036.

This opens with aromas of red plum, tobacco and leather. The full-bodied palate offers dried black cherry, espresso and dark spice alongside assertive tannins that still need a few years to unwind. Best to drink after 2021.

Review
The 2015 Barolo is plump, juicy entry-level offering. Bight floral and blood orange notes add brightness to a core of sweet red berry fruit in this lithe, gracious Barolo from Grasso.

The 2011 Barolo has pleasant notes of dark fruit, spice and graham cracker along with sweet tannins. It's a clean, albeit slightly heavy, Barolo overall.

Review
Lot of orange peel and fresh berry aromas and flavors. It's medium-bodied with firm and racy tannins that are well-integrated in the wine. A little tight at the end. Try after 2026.
