Review
I was sent two vintages of this wine, 2012 and 2008. Both are packaged in 375-milliliter bottles. The Ferrandes Salvatore 2012 Passito di Pantelleria opens to a bright orange appearance with gold and copper highlights. The bouquet is very sweet and Sicilian with candied orange peel, almond sugar, pistachio paste and dried garden herbs like basil and mint. Everything about the wine reminds you of the windswept, volcanic landscape of Pantelleria. This is a warm-vintage expression, and the bouquet is even more exuberant and fruit-forward as a result. The wine is rich in texture, creamy glycerin and sunny sweetness. Raisins, figs and dried apricots appear on the finish. Production ranges from 4,000 to 5,000 bottles made per year.

Review
This expression from Pantelleria shows a dark amber color with some darkened ruby highlights. The unoaked 2013 Passito di Pantelleria (in a tall and thin 375-milliliter bottle) is a precious wine made in extreme conditions with fruit laid out to dry in the sun and wind. The bouquet is evolved and oxidative in the most careful manner with brown sugar and maple syrup. The wine shows a rich, honey-like texture in the mouth. This wine is a splendor. Take me to Pantelleria now, with its black volcanic rock beaches and omnipresent caper bushes. Production numbers land between 4,000 and 5,000 bottles per year.

Review
The 2014 Passito di Pantelleria is a dark amber color in the glass, opening slowly with nuances of roast almond, caramel and fig paste. It’s soft-textured with brightening acidity and a salty flourish that adds savory depths to the ultra-ripe notes of peach and apricot preserves that follows. The finish goes on and on, leaving notions of spiced ginger cookie, raisins and hints of candied pineapple; yet the endnote here is its remarkable freshness. Aromatically, the 2014 never fully blossoms, yet the performance within is worth experiencing.

Review
With the benefit of time, this wine has evolved into a thing of great beauty and depth. Wine made with air-dried grapes benefits greatly from bottle aging, as demonstrated by the stunning 2008 Passito di Pantelleria. Obvious fruit tones of dried apricots and figs have transformed into delicate and ethereal notes of cola, balsam herb, misty menthol, Christmas candy cane and cough drop. The aromatic evolution of the wine is truly spectacular. The bouquet shows a new side with each swirl of the glass. In the mouth, the wine has gained in silky intensity and texture. Even the obvious sweetness has become mild and elegant. This dessert wine literally glides smoothly over the palate. Production never exceeds 5,000 375-milliliter bottles per year.

Exotically fragrant, with ground cardamom, anise, caraway and fennel seed notes wafting through honeyed apricot, white chocolate and orange marmalade flavors. Creamy and juicy throughout, this is a bright and enticing sweetie. Drink now through 2030. 200 cases made, 40 cases imported.
