Barolo Rocche dell’ Annunziata |

Review
The Renato Corino 2017 Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata is rich and darkly concentrated with plum, cherry and blackcurrant. There are additional background notes of spice, toasted hazelnut and campfire ember. With fruit from La Morra, this hot-vintage expression is indeed more powerful, concentrated and thickly layered overall. The tannins are still astringent, and although they will soften, I'm not sure they will ever fully integrate.

Fragrant with cherry, plum, lavender, eucalyptus and menthol aromas and flavors, this red is polished and broad, building in intensity, with a vibrant structure and a lingering fruit and savory aftertaste. Best from 2024 through 2040. 250 cases made, 100 cases imported.

Review
The 2018 Barolo Roche dell'Annunziata is a very pretty and elegant wine. In 2018, there is maybe just a bit more nervousness and tannic spine than most years. Floral and spice accents lift the bright red/purplish fruit. At times relatively open and forward, while in other moments more restrained, the 2018 is full of complexity. This is nicely done.

Review
Corino's 2014 Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata shows why this is such a privileged site. Deep, ample and intense, the 2014 is young, raw and not fully formed, and yet it offers considerable potential. Succulent red cherry, rose petal, mint, chalk and white pepper give the wine its signature aromatic lift and brightness. Here, too, the wine's persistence is notable.

Very floral and cedary aromas, layered across dried strawberries and red plums. Oak dominates the palate for now, but there’s a very juicy core of concentrated fruit below that will unfurl in the next two to three years. Try from 2022.

The 2015 Barolo Rocche dell’Annunziata is gorgeous. Aromatic, fresh and lifted, the 2015 captures all the pedigree of this great La Morra site. The interplay of dense fruit, perfumed aromatics and silky tannins that make wines from Rocche so compelling is very much in evidence. All the elements simply fall into place in a Barolo that is impeccable from start to finish.

Rich, heady and exotic in its beauty, Corino's 2016 Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata is a total stunner. In the glass, the 2016 Rocche is seamless and silky, with striking textural richness and persistence. Review
The Renato Corino 2016 Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata shows a soft and slow approach with a silky textural fiber that glides seamlessly over the palate. That effortless lightless is the defining characteristic of this pretty La Morra Barolo made with fruit from 50-year-old vines. Red and blue fruits can be found at the core, and there is pretty spice and tar as well. This wine is accessible even at this early stage, suggesting a drinking window of 10-15 years. A mere 3,500 bottles were made.

Review
The 2017 Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata is such a pleasure to taste. I feel like I am in La Morra, in Rocche dell'Annunziata, looking down the patchwork of parcels on this steep hillside. Freshly cut flowers, mint, spice and sweet red/purplish berry fruit notes abound. More than anything though, the 2017 is distinguished by its silky tannins and exceptional balance. In a word: sublime.

Review
The 2019 Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata is a gorgeous wine from Renato Corino. Bright and effusive, with captivating aromatic presence, the 2019 is all charm. Succulent dark cherry, cinnamon, blood orange, new leather, spice, sweet pipe tobacco and a kiss of French oak all meld together in a sumptuous Barolo that is all charm. In 2019, Corino opted to not make a Riserva, so all the barrels went into this bottling. Give the 2019 a few years to come together in bottle.

Review
The 2020 Barolo Rocche dell' Annunziata is a terrific wine from Renato Corino's cru par excellence. Driving, rich and enveloping, the 2020 possesses tremendous textural resonance. Dark red cherry, rose petal, mint, blood orange and spice all meld together in this captivating, nuanced Barolo. Pretty floral notes lift the finish. This should be stellar in another few years' time.
