Barolo Roncaglie Stefano Corino |

Review
The Stefano Corino 2017 Barolo Roncaglie shows a pretty ruby hue and a robust, mid-weight style. The heat and dryness of the vintage contribute to that added sense of richness, overall concentration and the powerful 15% alcohol content. This wine reveals dark cherry fruit, spice, leather, tar and potting soil. Those spice aromas are especially attractive, with shadings of crushed stone and rusty nail.

An intense red, whose taut structure is interwoven with cherry, raspberry, rose, tar, licorice and leather flavors. Fluid, with a rearguard of dusty tannins on the finish, this is very harmonious and complex. Best from 2025 through 2043. 125 cases made.

Review
The 2018 Barolo Roncaglie (Stefano Corino) is a dark, potent La Morra Barolo. Black cherry, plum, chocolate, spice, menthol and licorice meld together effortlessly. This is an especially seamless Barolo with soft contours that amplify the generally lighter style of Santa Maria in a good way. Stefano Corino favors longer macerations at lower temperatures relative to the approach he and his father Renato take with the other Barolos in the range.

Review
The 2017 Barolo Roncaglie is absolutely gorgeous. Bright, effusive and so expressive, the Roncaglie is a total delight. Lifted aromatics and bright red/purplish fruit all race out of the glass. Refined, silky tannins, so rare in this vintage, add to its considerable appeal. Roncaglie is not one of the better sites in La Morra. This is as good as it gets.

Review
The 2016 Barolo Roncaglie is fabulous, especially considering Roncaglie is not exactly one of La Morra's top sites. Fresh, vibrant and wonderfully nuanced, the 2016 pulses with real energy and class. For this wine, Stefano Corino leaves more leaf cover in the summer, does a cold soak after harvest and works with a mix of French oak barriques and larger tonneaux, all departures from the approach taken by his father, Renato, with the other wines in the range. The Roncaglie, made from a parcel previously went into the straight Barolo, is an experimental bottling that spent two years in oak with no racking.

Review
The 2020 Barolo Roncaglie (Stefano Corino) is a pretty, textured La Morra Barolo. This is the first year in which the wine was ages only in barrique, which Stefano Corino prefers over tonneaux for greater freshness. White pepper, macerated cherry, spice, orange peel and mint brighten the finish.
