This is bright and bursting with cherry, raspberry, licorice and iron aromas and flavors, while savory elements of eucalyptus, wild thyme and cut hay add detail. Fine balance and length. Best from 2024 through 2038.

Review
The 2017 Barbaresco Angelo is superb. The aromatics alone are simply beguiling. Rose petal, mint, lavender, pine, orange peel and sweet red cherry give the Angelo remarkable allure. Pliant and silky on the palate, with striking resonance, the Angelo impresses from the very first taste. Its overall balance is simply remarkable. I loved it.

Review
The 2018 Barbaresco Angelo is a blend taken from Ronchi, Ovello and Montersino that sees about 40 days on the skins, with submerged cap fermentation. Effusive and heady, the 2018 offers up beguiling aromatics and striking inner sweetness, all in an mid-weight style that is quite appealing. The 2018 is a bit nervy, but a few years in the cellar should do the trick.

Review
The 2019 Barbaresco Angelo is a blend from Ronchi, Montersino and Ovello, co-fermented, done with extended submerged cap maceration that
can go as long as 50-60 days. It offers remarkable depth in an elegant,
transparent style that is hugely appealing. Sweet red cherry, kirsch, mint and raspberry all come together. Interestingly, it is the most reticent of the Barbarescos.

Aromas of cherry, plum, sun-warmed hay, leather and tar show promise, but this red will need time to absorb the beefy tannins. Rich and powerful, with a long, chalky finish. Best from 2023 through 2043.

Really beautiful and subtle Barbaresco with ultra-fine tannins and gorgeous strawberry and light-cherry character. Medium-bodied, this is so persistent and mouth-caressing. Drink in 2020, but so pretty already.

Forest floor, woodland berry, crushed herb and dark culinary-spice aromas set the tone. The tight focused palate offers crushed strawberry, red cherry, licorice and a hint of exotic spice while firm fine-grained tannins provide the backbone. Drink 2025–2035.

Review
The 2015 Barbaresco Angelo is a blend of fruit mostly from Ronchi, with pieces of Montersino and Loreto that sees 55 days on the skins. Today, the Angelo is very tight and austere. Crushed rose petal, cedar and dried herb notes are pushed forward, while the fruit is more restrained in its expression initially. Time in the glass brings out the wine's pedigree as well as the raciness and natural richness of the year. There is so much to like here.

Review
The 2016 Barbaresco Angelo is the most elaborate and oak-forward of the three Barbaresco expressions presented by Albino Rocca this year. The wine opens to dark color saturation with blackberry, dried fruit and plum. You get extra layers of spice, smoke, tar and tilled earth as well. The wine is robust and full-bodied. It deserves to sit next to a nice cut of steak on the grill.

Crystal-clear purity of fruit with everything ranging from rose petals to strawberries to dried cherries. Elegant and graceful, yet at the same time strong and strapping, this full-bodied Barbaresco zips with agile acidity through muscular tannins and deepness of flavor like a well-built athlete skating on ice. Drink from 2022.

Rose petal, iris, dark-skinned berry and spice aromas mingle with balsamic notes of camphor on this fragrant, stunning red. Elegantly structured, the precise palate evokes cranberry, Marasca cherry, star anise and thyme set against tightly knit but refined tannins and bright acidity. It's a quintessential Barbaresco, with fantastic tension. Drink 2024–2036.

Cherry, kirsch and peony aromas and flavors are the main features of this delicate red. These themes are accented by tar, tobacco and underbrush notes, showing an underpinning of mineral as this builds to a long finish. Beautifully balanced, with a white pepper aftertaste. Best from 2022 through 2042.

Review
The 2016 Barbaresco Angelo, the estate's top bottling, is a blend of 50% Ronchi, 25% Montersino and 25% Loreto, done entirely in cask. Reticent at first, the 2016 needs several hours of air to start opening up. A super-classic expression of Nebbiolo follows, with hints of menthol, leather, iron, violet spice and licorice that develop later. The 2016 remains a wine of fascinating contrasts. It is at times light on its feet, while at other moments it comes across as much more powerful.

A solidly built red, with macerated plum and cherry flavors mingling with earth, leather and tobacco accents. Reveals tannins that are on the rustic side and dominate the finish now, with a hint of wild herbs on the conclusion. Best from 2024 through 2040. 175 cases made, 30 cases imported.

Review
The 2020 Barbaresco Angelo is an exotic wine. Macerated cherry, white flowers, apricot and spice are some of the many notes that grace this sensual, super-expressive Barbaresco. Fine tannins wrap it all together while lifted floral accents frame the finish. The Angelo is beautifully done.
