Review
A pure expression of Merlot, the Casa di Terra 2019 Bolgheri Rosso Mosaico is soft and velvety from the outset with lots of black fruit, summer ripe cherry, some grilled herb and a spot of dusty mineral that adds an elegant frame around all that bold primary intensity. The wine is fermented in steel and nishes in barrique. Annual production of Mosaico is about 20,000 bottles.

A fragrant nose of dark cherries, baked plums, roasted spices, olives and nutmeg. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, creamy tannins. Nicely chewy with a flavorful yet fresh long finish. Drink or hold.

A meaty nose showing charcuterie, blackberry pie, paprika and dried tobacco. Full body, ripe and round tannins and a chewy finish. Drink in 2020. A blend of merlot, cabernet franc and petit verdot.

The blend is Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Syrah. The 2015 Bolgheri Rosso Mosaico shows large-scale intensity and a velvety voluptuous feel that coats the palate from start to finish. The wine is bold, rich and thickly textured. Oak spice, cinnamon and nutmeg fill in the rear.

The aromas of walnuts, blackcurrants and lavender are very pretty here. Medium to full body, tight and polished tannins and a delicious finish. Hard not to drink now, but a few more years of bottle age will offer rewards. Try after 2021.

Review
The 2016 Bolgheri Rosso Mosaico (100% Merlot) is distinguished by the oak tones that play a prominent role. The wine ages in barrique for 12 months, of which 20% is new oak. There are thick layers of spice, leather and cured tobacco folded into dark fruit, plum and blackberry confit. The wine probably needs another year or so of bottle aging before it reaches a better balance. Production is 15,000 bottles strong.

Enticing nose with fresh red berries, some grilled meat and cedar shavings and hay. Medium-to full-bodied with a compact bundle of integrated and fruit-coated tannins. Fruity finish, turning ever more savory and steely through the long aftertaste. Vibrant now. Give it a year or so to settle in. Best after 2021.
