Langhe Freisa Bosco delle Cicale

Freisa was the most widespread vine in Piedmont before it almost disappeared 150 years ago.  The name comes from the area the vines are grown, next to the woods (Bosco) where the sound of the cicadas (Cicale) can constantly be heard during the summertime. Compared to its relative Nebbiolo, Freisa creates a wine that is richer in color and tannin, with fruity hints of strawberries, raspberries, cherries, making it an ideal pairing with grilled meats, cured meats and cheeses.
