‘Scazzarìdde’ is a dialect expression used in Gioia del Colle in Apulia to describe a whirlwind, a sudden vortex of earth and leaves blown by the wind in the countryside, before a summer storm.
This wine comes from Guyot-trained and spurred cordon vineyards grown on limestone-tuffaceous soils. Harvest made by hand in small crates in the early morning hours between late September and early October. Its two main varietals (Verdeca and Minutolo) are vinified separately in open vats. Approximately 20% of the must remains in contact with the skins for a few days. After fermentation, it continues to age on the fine lees in stainless steel vats for at least 7 months.
