Lazio

The winter was perfect, it was quite cold. The weather during the springtime was good, rains where alternated by sunny days. In June and in July the vegetation of the vines developed well. At the end of July/beginning of August is rained and this was very important for the vines. There was no more rain till after the harvest.

MONTE COMPATRI (Frascati – Province of Rome):

Lorenzo Costantini owner of the homonymous estate (Frascati Superiore DOC, Lazio Rosso IGT): “..Grape yield was lower this year in comparison to previous vintages. The vines did not suffer from hydric stress. The (white) wines have a good alcohol strength and a good acidity…they are fruity and mineral. In the mouth they are more sapid than the wines of 2010…..The reds have a good colour and a good concentration. 2011 is a lovely vintage and we harvested without rain. We picked from the 10th till the 15th of October. The alcoholic fermentation of Frascati lasted for 14-15 days….”
