Veneto

The quality of the clusters and of the wines is high. There was a lot of rain during the spring, but September and October were very warm. Growing season of grapes was good and very regular. Even in this region there was a lot of production, vineyard management was therefore important (cluser thinning and removal of excess foliage). In September there was an ideal temperature range between day and night.

Monteforte d’Alpone (Soave Classico): “…..Soave 2004 can be considered very well-balanced and a great wine. This can also be extended to the other wines of the estate” (Claudio Gini of Azienda Agricola Gini) Garganega grapes were harvested from the 20t h of September till the 20t h of October.

Negrar (Valpolicella): “..quality was high…..2004 was a very positive year also for Amarone…..2004 wines have a good colour, good aromas, are well-structured and well-balanced” (Antonio Mazzi of Azienda Agricola Mazzi). Harvest started on the 20t h of September and finished on the 5t h -6t h of October for the grapes from which Amarone and Recioto are made. Grapes for Valpolicella were harvested around the 15t h of October.
