The 2021 vintage began with rather mild winter temperatures that lasted almost one degree above average until the end of February and early March, with abundant rains. A good vegetative restart therefore took place, but the first part of April recorded a significant drop in temperatures, with snowfalls at high altitudes and some frosts below, which led to a delay of about a week on the growth of the shoots.

The persistence of temperatures just above average throughout May, June and the first half of July, and the prolonged absence of rain, slowed down the phytopathic pressure and allowed for good flowering and fruit set. Furthermore, the rapid transition to the pre-closing phase of the bunch, which had many floral residues, led to the development of tendentially more sparse bunches.

In mid-July, rains arrived which also allowed us to benefit from a lowering of temperatures, confirming at the moment a delay of 7-10 days on the phenological phases of the vine. In general, the climatic conditions have allowed the management of the vineyards without particular problems, with a rather high pressure of powdery mildew in some moments. The persistence of climatic conditions marked by high temperatures and the absence of precipitation in the first half of August, confirmed the advance of the phenological phases and the high level of warning for powdery mildew, recording an early veraison in all areas and on all grape varieties. In general, at the moment, very good quality of the grapes is expected.
