After a generous winter from a rainfall point of view, particularly in the months of February and March, with accumulations above 200 mm, the spring was decidedly dry. The month of April was highly anomalous, during which the rains were absolutely negligible with an average cumulative of 3 mm, at the absolute minimum climatic levels. During the delicate fruit set phases, the rains were practically absent and the temperatures dropped, slightly reducing the fruit setting percentage in some varieties. The temperatures at the end of July were regular and allowed for regular and uniform veraison. The climatic situation reserved, in the first part of August, an anomalous heat that lasted for about 10 days above the average of the last 10 years, causing significant water stress to the plants with some cases of almost dehydrated grapes. After mid-August, temperatures returned to the seasonal average, but there was an increase in relative humidity which gave the vineyards a form of coolness, allowing the plants to come out of a state of stress. An uneven picture emerges with vineyards, such as those in the western area, where an increase in production is expected, and others where losses could be recorded. The quality so far is good, but it will depend on September. The aromatic curve is also good thanks to excursions.

Harvesting operations began 5-7 days earlier than in the past campaign. The harvest began at the end of July with the collection of Chardonnay, spumante base and Pinot grigio grapes. In the first ten days of August the bunches of Sauvignon blanc, Chardonnay, Moscato bianco, as well as the sparkling base grapes of Catarratto and Grillo broke off. After mid-August, the operations went live with the contributions of Nero d’Avola, Merlot, Syrah and Grillo, followed by those of Zibibbo, Catarratto, Inzolia and Grecanico. From the first cellar reports, the grape / wine yield is slightly below average, while the

fermentations are taking place regularly.
