This is Livia Fontana’s ‘par excellence’ Barolo. The name “Fontanin” pays homage to their ancestor, Gerolamo, who was the first to move into the current cellar. Past generations of the Fontana family settled in Castiglione Falletto before 1660. In 1820, Girolamo and his family moved to the current farmhouse. He was the youngest of the Fontana brothers, and was given the nickname “Fontanin”, which in the Piedmont dialect means small/young fountain. Barolo Fontanin has always been produced with a blend of the crus and vineyards of Castiglione Falletto. With an intense, harmonious aroma and an elegant flavor with great intensity and persistence, it contains all the nuances peculiar of the Castiglione Falletto vineyards.
