Grignolino is a typical Piedmontese vine, and very widespread in the area near Asti. It owes its name to “Grignole“, meaning seed or grape seed. Each grape can contain 3 to 5 seeds, while the other vines usually have only 1 or 2. For this reason, its maceration is rather short, just 3 or 4 days maximum. Aromas are very spicy, and it pairs very well with appetizers, but also with fish soups.
